CLOSING CEREMONIES
Synopsis
An emotional farewell to the athletes and Games of the XXIIIrd Olympiad. The massed athletes from all participating countries gathered In the arena for the Official Olympic Closing Ceremonies finishing with the lowering of the Olympic Flags and extinguishing of the the Olympic Flame. A dazzling laser light show followed and a giant space ship hovered over the stadium for five minutes. Then came Lionel Richie's spectacular salute to the athletes featuring 200 break dancers and 300 dancers In vibrant energetic production numbers that thrilled the audience. Finally, fireworks exploded into the night sky concluding this colorful and glorious celebration.
